Mutual Exchanges
Many of our residents have the right to exchange – swap homes – with our other tenants, council tenants or tenants of other housing associations. This is often a good way of meeting your changing housing needs without having to wait for us to find an empty property to offer you.
You will need our permission before you can exchange properties and we will only refuse permission for a limited number of reasons, such as legal action being taken for rent arrears or if the accommodation is not suitable for your needs. If the tenant you are swapping with is not one of our tenants their landlord must also agree to the exchange before it can take place.
You must never give your tenancy to someone else except by following the ‘Right to Exchange’ procedure. If you leave your property, the tenancy will end and we will treat the other occupier as an illegal occupier. You must not pay out or receive money to exchange your home.

People who wish to exchange can apply via the Homeswapper scheme the UK’s largest community of social housing tenants to swap homes. For more information and to register online visit their site at www.Homeswapper.co.uk or speak directly to Kemble Housing.
